Student Apartments

WD&D Architects and Treanor Architects teamed for this 200-bed apartment complex at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. As the residence hall design consultant, Treanor led a charrette to determine the design.

The group agreed on a neighborhood-style layout, which creates inviting outdoor community spaces. The mixed-use, new-urbanism design incorporates two, three and four bedroom apartments for upperclassmen with a commons area and a retail convenience store.

This apartment complex was designed with community and energy efficiency in mind and will use green design principals as the budget allows. The complex will use the campus chilled water system and be oriented North/South to take advantage of the sun and prevailing winds. The university will control the temperature ranges for the individual apartments to keep utility costs at a minimum and save on long term maintenance.
