New Century Adult Detention Center Wins National Award
Johnson County's New Century Adult Detention Center received a Merit Award at the Academy of Architecture for Justice's annual conference last month in Boston. The project is featured in the AIA's 2010 Justice Facilities Review. Designed in conjunction with HOK Architects, the $52 million project includes 554 new beds, administrative segregation, disciplinary segregation, maximum custody, special needs, and medium/minimum custody beds as well as a remodel of the existing facility to accommodate projected inmates and staff. The new building is connected directly to the existing facility with a secure link.
